This lab is done by powering an infrared emitter to cast a beam of light through the spinning blades of a fan into the photo-transistor. The fan spins with varying power supplies, the blades of the fan break the beam of light and this data is collected by lab view. Labview also allowed us to set the sweep of the voltages through the fan and plotted data.

Large Fan

The following images are screen captures of the scope trace of the photo-transistor signal. The measurements taken were to find the amplitude and frequency of the large fan's signal.

We swept the fans voltage from 4V to 12V, we recorded 41 frequencies starting at 7V and increasing by increments of 0.1V.

Small Fan

The following images are screen captures of the scope trace of the photo-transistor signal. The measurements taken were to find the amplitude and frequency of the small fan's signal.

We swept the fans voltage from 4V to 12V, we recorded 41 frequencies starting at 7V and increasing by increments of 0.1V.
